Hi Yuxin.
Your post was very interesting, and I like how you included your educator perspective. I agree that one of the benefits of using social media platforms is that you can reach your PLN much more quicker. If your PLN is your social media followers, then their more likely to interact with your posts and give advice or feedback. I have seen many Instagram accounts where educators share their students work or their lessons. This is an excellent way to engage in the teacher community and reach other educators. I mentioned an example of this in my post by Amy Storer; she was searching for an activity or video that could teach her students the weather map (Wakelet, 2022). She came across a video by Ryan Davidson, who ended up coming to their classroom. Two years later, she stayed connected with him when two of her students were interested in severe weather. I think this really shows the importance of connecting as a teacher; both the educator and student can be positively impacted. Thank you for sharing!
Hi Bruce. I enjoyed reading your post. I agree that reaching out to people while being in a course that is of interest can be beneficial in building a PLN. In a Psychology course I took in the past, I connected with a teacher about my research interest, and they gave me resources to find them. Because of this, I have involved myself in research and made many new connections with people who share the same interest. I also have seen teachers provide information and resources for volunteer and job opportunities in class. I think taking advantage of asking and being open to connecting with professional people in courses can be beneficial post-course. Thank you for sharing!
