Hi Yuanwei. I thought your post was very interesting, as you mentioned that having a diverse PLN creates a community where people can openly share their backgrounds and perspectives with others who understand regardless of their biases. I definitely agree with your idea, and I think everyone should take advantage of social media to learn from a variety of diverse voices and share personal stories because many people can relate or learn from these shared stories. I think many of us do not see this side of social media when we are caught with only seeing the negatives, but there are many communities that we can all learn from. I also think having a diverse PLN on social media allows us to share messages and reach people quickly, which is what we saw with Markiel Simpson on Twitter. Thank you for sharing!
Hi Jinwei. I enjoyed reading your post. I like that you mentioned that in-depth content that impacts users is lacking on social media. I definitely agree with you and I think as active consumers, we tend not to see how the content we view can also influence how we think about the world. Having a diverse PLN allows users to see and learn from content that explores messages that are impactful in a community, and share our beliefs and perspectives with people who understand us or who may not but there is always something to learn. As you also mentioned, young people between the ages of 16-24 tend to spend the most time on social media. I think it is important for people these ages to learn the importance of having a diverse PLN with people who understand them, especially with how easy it is for people to cyberbully online. Thank you for sharing!
